Ted Winters
A PEC member since 2002 and member of the Board of Directors since 2003, Ted is also aAssistant State Trail Chair and Trail Stewardship Coordinator for Lebanon County. He and his wife, Elaine, assist with the Trail Stewardship Program trainings, volunteer with the PEC booth at the Farm Show, Horse World Expo and Ag Progress Days, and also volunteers at the Keystone International Livestock Expo horse shows. Ted is self-employed as owner/operator of an orthodontic dental laboratory. He has been involved in equine activities since childhood, and in later years, enjoys trail riding and packing with mules, as well as hunting.
Charles Van Auken
A lifetime PEC member and Member of the Board since 2006, Charlie has volunteered for Horse World Expo and other PEC functions prior to becomming a Board Member. He has had one-day and three-day trail stewardship training and also packing training. He's an avid trail rider and peam-penner. In the past 45 years his pursuits have included stints in English hunter, rodeo, farrier and trainer. He has been associated with several riding organizations. He has been past president as well as other positions of Bonny Brook Riding Club. He has worked professionally in the engineering design field in the railroad industry.
Patricia M. Comerford
Pat is an Extension Horse Specialist and Instructor of Animal Science at Penn State University. She has been involved in the horse industry for over 35 years as an owner, rider, farm manager, breeder, educator and author. Pat reveived BS and MS degrees from Clemson University, in Animal Science with research in equine nutrition. Pat is a director of the Pennsylvania Equine Council and a Past President and Director of the American Youth Horse Council. She is a member of the American Registry of Professional Quarter Horse Association, American Quarter Horse Association, Certified Horsemanship Association and United States Equestrian Federation. She and her family operate a small farm and ride, breed and show American Quarter Horses. Pat has been involved with the Pennsylvania Equine Council since 1987 and a board member since 1991.
Elaine Bish
Elaine has been riding and enjoying horses since she was young. Her first job involved riding numerous ponies at a riding stable that specialized in trail rides. She also worked with scouts to help them earn their riding patches. Elaine showed Wester, English, Jumping and Dressage in college, and spent two summers breaking yearlings for a thoroughbred farm in Ohio. She also held a part time job driving carriages in downtown Columbus. Currently, Elaine owns two horses that she trail rides. She is the State Director Chair for the PEC (oversees and trains county and regional directors across the state), serves on the Board of Directors, and is also the Vice Presidnent of the PEC. In addition, she is on the Equine Advisory Committee for the Allegheny National Forest and enjoys volunteering to help build and maintain equestrian trails.
